In order to create a safe, free enviroment for writers, rules are needed. These are the rules so far, but the list might be subject to change as this place grows and problems appear. Please check them out before posting or reviewing.
1- Posting: First of all, you must create a new thread in the correct category, using TITLE, PAIRING/WARNING, AND RATING as the subject. Then you must add, first and foremost, a short Author's note with the summary, word count, genre, any other warnings and disclaimer, not necessarily in that order. Then, you must send me, the administrator, a PM with all that information, including the fic's title, so that I can add it to the Fiction by Author thread.(*) From here on, you have two options to post your fic: You can either link outside the forum (to your LJ, ff.net link, or any other place where you might hold it) Or simply copy/paste the chapter to your post. If the fic is a WIP, and you're not linking outside the forum, send me a PM every time you update, and add the chapter number to the subject. If it's a multi-chapter fic, but it's short, or you're linking outside the forum, just edit the original post, and PM so I'll add it to the Updates.
(*) Note: To send a PM, simply go to a person's profile, and you'll see the 'send personal message' option.
2- Fic Ratings: Use standard ratings, from G to NC-17. Ratings are not reserved for sexual content or innuendo. Violence and mature topics of any kind also count. If you're unsure of how to rate your fic, it is safer to make a mistake by giving it a higher rating than it deserves, rather than post something that might be innapropriate for a lower rating.
3- Disclaimers: While you own the idea and you are the one who took the time to write the fic, the characters and settings found in it are the intelectual property of the author. Setting a disclaimer is a MUST. A simple I do not own this is enough.
4- Warnings In order to prevent any sort of flaming, or hurting the sensitivities of any reader, please disclose the proper warnings. These include: Shounen-ai/Yaoi, Shoujo-ai/Yuri, Violence, Character Death, Crack, OOC, Original characters, Non-con, Shota, Incest, Suicide-themes, AU, etc, etc. I would also ask you that, if English is not your first language, or you are just starting to write, you make a note of it too. You can put this at the bottom of the post, if you don't want to drive readers away. This is, trust me, for your benefit, not the readers'.
5- Reviews: Reviews are just that, a comment on someone's work. Don't start conversations with other users, or arguements. Do NOT double-post, one is more than enough. No Flaming. No Spamming. IF YOU DON'T LIKE, DON'T READ. No one's putting a gun to your head, and you have the back button at your disposal. The only critisism allowed is the constructive kind, always delivered in a respectful manner. If a fic hasn't been properly labeled, or is missing a warning, please refrain from leaving a comment about it if you don't have anything else to say, and send me a PM about it. It is my job to maintain the order here. If you have issues with a member, deal with it outside the forum. PLEASE REVIEW. It is the only form of retribution that the writer has for their work.
Breaking any of these rules can cause you to get from a warning to a ban, and even a suspension of your account. They are reasonable rules, meant for all of us to get along as peacefully as possible.
